Senior Living FAQs
Do you have questions about senior living at Arbor Glen? Check out some of our most frequently asked questions.
What is the difference between independent living and assisted living?
Independent living is ideal for seniors who do not require support from caregivers or nurses and are able to manage activities of daily living on their own. Assisted living, on the other hand, provides support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management while allowing residents to maintain their independence.
How do I know if my loved one needs assisted living?
Determining if your loved one may benefit from assisted living can feel overwhelming, but there are some common signs that can help guide your decision. If they are experiencing challenges with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, or managing their medications, assisted living may offer the support they need to maintain their independence and well-being.
Look for signs of isolation or loneliness as well, as many seniors thrive in a social environment with activities and opportunities for engagement. Increased forgetfulness, frequent falls, or noticeable weight loss are also indicators that additional support might be beneficial.
Is Arbor Glen a pet-friendly community?
Yes, we welcome pets that are under 25 pounds. Additionally, all pets must be up to date on their current vaccinations and residents must be able to independently attend to the pet’s needs.
Can family members visit?
Yes! Family members are encouraged to visit their loved ones and also to take part in activities and community events. Staying connected with loved ones is important for residents’ emotional well-being and their quality of life.
What is Indiana’s Assisted Living Waiver Program and how do I apply?
Indiana’s Assisted Living Waiver Program helps eligible Indiana residents with Medicaid pay for assisted living services. Applicants need to meet certain eligibility requirements. To determine if the Assisted Living Waiver Program is an option for you or your loved one, contact Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana (AIHS).
